Feral cats (Felis catus) were introduced to Aldabra in the early - TopicsExpress

Feral cats (Felis catus) were introduced to Aldabra in the early 1900s and now only occur on Grand Terre Island. Research as part of SIFs EU-funded invasive species project has shown that cats prey native geckos, skinks and green turtle hatchlings, as well as rats and cockroaches. In fact, cats caught on or near Green Turtle nesting beaches are much fatter than cats caught elsewhere on the island. Upcoming research will use camera traps to calculate the density of cats in different habitats on Grand Terre. This video shows a cat caught on camera.
