Fergie is sending a clear message to Moyes, that deviation from the tradition of success in the club is unacceptable. Excerpts from his MUTV interview further reveals: The key for David is not to look to do anything better or less but just to maintain what the club has been for 20-odd years and keep the success going. No matter what it is - the League Cup, FA Cup, European Cup or Premier League Sadly, Moyes has already ruled out success in the European Cup; his stuttering start in the league seem not to only rule out success in defending the title but almost ruling out participation in the European tournament. While we are still patient, believing that it is too premature to weigh the seasons outcome based on the early results, Moyes must not stretch our patience too far. For those English fans, calling fans in other regions plastic fans because they are ventilating their disapproval for Moyes defective and unproductive tactics, they must do well to reconfigure their minds to modern realities. This is not just about glory hunting. We are all here to stay - good or bad - and propagate the ideals we are known for: GGMU!!! In this age of globalization, fandom transcends borders and being vocal about your club only shows that your love for the club is GREATER than your love for an individual actor, including Moyes. The club outlives all of us and posterity will condemn all those fans who prefer to encourage the fall of our empire, built on painstaking sweat, loyalty, funds, genius and talent of many. Contrary to the erroneous claim by many ignorant fans, Ferguson did not have a bad start to life at Old Trafford. First, he brought us from zone of relegation in Nov.86 to mid-table finish by May 87; then to second place in 1988; agreed, 89 was a return to mid-table finish but he won the FA Cup in 1990, improved our league standing to top 6, won the Charity Shield and we even emerged runners-up in the League Cup; On the European stage, he won us the 1991 UEFA Super Cup and the Premier League by 1992; the rest of the story is well known today. Bottom line, Fergie was on a rescue mission and he showed promises and eventually performed beyond expectations. Moyes is even better placed than Fergie on his debut as United Manager. Unlike his predecessor, he isnt on a rescue mission but to maintain a standard, as Fergie aptly points out. He must not take us from top to bottom. Collectively, we have a responsibility to express disappointment - if not embarrassment - at the series of poor performances at our once fortified Old Trafford; our Mecca of some sort, where all fans look to pay homage in their lifetime. If nothing, at least the management will sit up or quit! Managing a club requires the efficient and rigorous collection of talents (raw or refined) andu organisation of a team to achieve success in competitions. Thus, the first of his tasks was the identification and assembly of suitable talents to strengthen the squad. He failed to understand that a number of players in the team are, in truth, surplus to requirements at Old Trafford. Today, it is already a consensus among Old Trafford faithfuls that Moyes performed poorly in the Summer transfer market. In fact, targeting Fabrigas was a huge farce let alone allowing Ozil to slip to Arsenal. Now, the training regime appears unsuitable for some key players eg. Van Persie. Also, the selection of players, suitability of techniques and on-field assigning and interpretation of roles to each player has also come under scrutiny and criticism for lack of effectiveness. All of these have reflected in the results: just as the saying goes, res ipsa loquitur or the table doesnt lie. In contemporary football, you must not let the log leaders go to far, if you wish to win the league. Hence, believing that Arsenals promising early season form will dwindled away to a top four finish is mere wishful thinking. Yet, rather than concentrate on sending clear messages of disapproval to the management and seek for improvement, some deluded folks are talking about plasticity of fans on the basis of region.
