Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has revealed that former Chelsea teammate Fernando Torres played a big part in his move away from Stamford Bridge. A move to Anfield has worked wonders for the England striker who has enjoyed a new lease of life under Brendan Rodgers. The 24-year-old has scored 21 times for the Reds this season and his deadly partnership with Luis Suarez - dubbed SAS - has helped turn the Anfield outfit into title contenders. While it is only Chelsea that sit higher than Sturridges new team in the Premier League table, at the same time, the Blues have struggled for goals from their frontmen, including Torres who has only scored four league goals thus far. [Torres] always spoke very highly about Liverpool, Sturridge said. When we were at Chelsea together he would say, Liverpool are amazing. It wasnt just him - it was Yossi Benayoun as well. They both said, That club is the best I have played for. They said the fans will make you feel amazing and, at the time, I thought I need a bit of that in my life because I was low right then. I need to feel good about myself, so it was an easy decision to come here. My dad [Michael], my uncle [Dean, the former Derby striker] and I all shared the same opinion this was the best place to go. When Liverpool came in, it was one of those situations that I just wanted to get up the M6 as quick as possible, sign on the dotted line and get to work. I was desperate to get here and show what I could do. I was hungry and I am still hungry. There is so much for us to achieve. Sturridge endured a stuttering spell at the Bridge, following a move from Manchester City, he only managed 13 league goals in four years in west London. He was often played on the wing. His bet success has come at Liverpool as a striker. Chelsea have the chance to move seven points clear of Liverpool in their early kick-off against Arsenal before Rodgers men can close the gap with a win at Cardiff City this afternoon.
