Ferrari F1 2014 launch: Montezemolo insists it’s time to win Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has left his employees in no doubt as to the sole target for 2014 after telling the world that it was time for the Scuderia to start winning titles again. Speaking ahead of the unveiling of the all-new F14-T at the teams Maranello headquarters, Montezemolo claimed that Ferrari had all the ingredients to be successful, but needed to put them together correctly in order to beat the likes of Red Bull Racing, which has been in the ascendancy for the past four years. “Im confident because we have a strong team [and] two very strong drivers.,” he insisted, before joining Fernando Alonso and the returning Kimi Raikkonen on stage to admire the result of last winters hard work, “I very pleased to have Kimi back as he was the last driver to win the world championship with us, while Fernando has had some fantastic seasons, finishing second in the past four years. Now it is time to win.” With F1 moving into a new technical era from 2014, with the introduction of turbocharged V6 engines and different regulations governing aerodynamics, regenerative technologies, Ferrari – like its rivals – are heading into something of an unknown at next weeks Jerez group test, but Montezemolo says that he has few concerns. “I have great confidence in our new technical director, James Allison, and the work our people have made in the engine,” he commented, “Its a very complicated engine, a very complicated system - and I think, at the beginning of the season, reliability will be crucial. “Whenever we have new rules, it is always difficult from the beginning to find out who is competitive and who is less so, but our goal is to be on the top and so we have to do our best. “I have seen all our people be very conscious of this, very focused, and we will approach the first test with all our determination. We have to give our drivers, not only a competitive car, but also a competitive team and [team principal Stefano] Domenicali has made some innovations there. Im very confident.”
