Ferreira: Audiences can handle long passages of monologue. When theyre good, audiences love it. Few films have the rich texture of a good novel. I strive to make mine that way. Today, were going to cold read actor John Mendelssohn to see if hes got the goods to handle Movieopolis character Florian Tinkers detailed, passionate lines. I made it a point in the contracts the lines I write must be delivered as I wrote them, on penalty of breach. Those lines arent there for nothing. Every breath, every syllable, means something.
