Festival Fun! September 19-21, 2014. The Wild Georgia Shrimp Festival presented by Southern Living kicks off Friday on Jekyll Island and runs through Sunday. Lovers of shrimp and grits are headed to the Georgia coast this weekend for a three-day celebration of the Southern favorite. The festival features never-ending portions of shrimp and grit dishes, live music, cooking demonstrations and competitions with amateur and professional chefs. There is a Kids Fun Zone for keeping the little ones entertained. Older visitors can taste craft beer and visit food vendors. Be sure to check out the Southern Living Area and Cooking Demo Stage. The Georgia Sea Turtle Center will have a Turtle Release at Great Dunes Park at 9 AM on Saturday. This is Open to the Public. General admission is free, though guests must pay a $6-per-vehicle fee to park on Jekyll Island.
