Few days back, a guy called my office and told us he is the chief enforcement officer from the Immigration. And since we are using a lot of foreign workers, he and his raiding party will be checking on our workers for valid work permits. The message was conveyed to me and I called the mobile number that was given. I told him that I dont see any problem of Immigration checking out my workers hostels and their work permits. He said that it is okay and he wont be coming if I can verbally assure him that all my workers have valid work permits... 2 days back, he called again and said he got a few colleagues, presumably big shots Immigration officers from Putrajaya. He asked me if I was free to have lunch with them. I told him I was unable because I had prior lunch appointed with a client. He sounded angry and demanded that I deposit a certain amount of money in an account hes going to give me if not hell create problem for my company. I told him to give me the account no. I smelled rats! Yesterday, I went to the Immigration to see the head of enforcement. As I sat down and spoke to him, he told me that he knew someone have been impersonating him and demanding money from companies. He showed me the police report he made. Im now working on a sting with the Immigration to apprehend these crooks.. Beware of conman!!
