Few examples of vote bank politics: 1) BJP: regularized unauthorized colonies in Delhi just before assembly election in Delhi, soft stand on some core ideological issues like Article 370 in Kashmir, talks about uniform civil code, appeasement politics, cow slaughter, illegal immigration etc before election but dont talk on these issues after winning election, supported reservation for Marathas in Maharastra. 2) All Secular Parties (Cong, AAP, SP, TMC,CPM,RJD, JDU...) : supports and demand extra reservation for muslims, regularizes illegal madrasas, fear to take action against criminals belong to muslim community (supported terrorists in batla house encounter, after any encounter it is more important to them is to find out whether the encounter is fake or real rather than whether the person was terrorist or not), supports illegal immigrants from bangladesh, talks about Gaza but dont talk about hamas, ISIS, AL-Quida, BOKO HARAM etc. TMC even gives Rs. 3000 to each of 30000 imams each month for votes. 3)Cong/AAP/Tamil Parties (freebies) : believe in freebies, more inclined to LEFT ideology than even left parties like CPM, Cong started MNREGA in which roads are built which dont even last for 1 year, AAP promises free water, electricity but no mention of where from the money will come. Tamil Parties gives free TV, Fan, Cooker etc. 4) BSP/Cong/SP/AAP (Caste politics): BSP (dalit votes) and SP (OBC votes) are the masters in caste politics. Cong has taken different positions in different places like brought bill for Maratha reservation, Jath reservation. Though AAP is new entrant in politics, they have said that reservation for SC/STs should be increased. Calling himself baniya, AK promised to stop IT raid in shops (of corrupt businessmen). BJP gets votes from mainly uppercaste, but did not appease by giving anything extra, cancelled Jath reservation in hariyana! Politics is all about power, ideology matters but not more than power. Every party follows divide and rule policy to some extent.
