Few things I have learned so far from the West: 1. Every person/field has important values to the society. 2. One cant know everything and the society cant expect one to know everything. Your ability to admit that you dont know is wisdom. 3. Knowledge is not the ability to learn from the textbooks or Journals, is the ability to use this knowledge in developing a solution that could better the society. Lessons from these: A. Different fields/professions have to collaborate to find a solution if a society is to develop. B. To refuse to admit you dont know is itself ignorance and it is the basis of pretenses and fraud. People that expect you to know everything are themselves partly ignorant. C. By mastering the textbooks or Journals, you do not become an expert. You only become an expert when you learn to apply that knowledge towards a useful research/debate that could better the society. Therefore bragging about what one has learned is a naivety, until one is able to make or contribute to a useful discovery from his knowledge. I hope my fellow #Nigerians and #Africans would learn from this.
