Few things in life are finite and unyielding. We’ve seen this - TopicsExpress

Few things in life are finite and unyielding. We’ve seen this during this year’s campaign. What are they? One of them is change. We have lived with the same constitution for 30 years. It was and still remains the first block of our tribe’s foundation. A permanent mark in our proud history and it will remain intact and true to our people. Times change and with that change we need to grow. We need to add to our foundation. In the beginning we were young, and now we know more. We know enough to realize that we sit mute all but one time out of the year or when our opinions are cultivated. We put our trust and our future in the hands of nine people. Fear…it’s ever present in our lives. It could a fear of heights, spiders, or tight spaces. From this election is the fear about who will do what. Let me ask this question…how many of you are mind readers or psychic? Can you accurately predict how any of the candidates will do? I’ve asked this before I know, but it bears repeating. Let’s say your dreaded choice gets in…what do you think will happen. That person will be one of NINE. Nine people who have individual minds and ideas. Together they will come to a decision. These nine people will make choices in your name and what they feel is best for you. An idea offered up can be nurtured or shot down and you will never know how each voted in private or what they thought about it throughout the whole process. Risk. Nothing in life has zero risk. You make a decision knowing there are many outcomes. Trusting your future in someone who is new is just as risky as trusting it to someone who is established. Just like the stock market…risks can pay off big, but how will you know unless you go all in. Life is not a straight road without any road blocks. There are twists and turns and pot holes. You stumble and then you stand back up. That is how you learn. That is how you grow by taking risks. To those who say your vision doesn’t align with someone else’s…I respect that. Good for you knowing where you stand. Have you asked the person next to you what they think or the person after them? A beautiful future is full of different ideas and points of view that mesh together and sing in perfect in harmony. To those who say a certain person will destroy our constitution—did you ever try to get clarification to ease your fear? Hate to break it to you, but one person CAN’T destroy it. Impossible…they would have eight other voices. A majority is required. This world will never be flawless or perfect by any means. We pull together and create a world we can give to our children….our future. In the past each voice fed into a collective decision and life was smoother and more cohesive. The change members are looking for aren’t significant enough to destroy the foundation our tribe was re-established with. So to recap… life will always change. Risk is something we all take. Fear lives within us, but we can’t let any of these break us for we are stronger than all of them.
