Few years ago Nepal was commonly called a Green country. People used to consider Green forest as Nepal’s riches. But a statistical report shows that the density and area covered by forest has rapidly declined from 45% to 25% within 34 years. I consider Rapid growth of population, High dependency on firewood consumption, Illegal export, frequent forest fire, High dependency on agriculture, grazing of domestic animals, Lack of efforts towards agro forestry and defective government policies to be the major causes of rapid deforestation in Nepal. People often say Government should pass strict bill; use of alternative source of energy should be encouraged and so on. But they only say. Who will do? – The Government, Civil servants or the international communities, No, we each and every world citizen ourselves are responsible for this. If we ourselves start to take responsibility and consider nature as our own home then there will not be any importance of law or any lecture. The solution of this problem lies in human being itself. The problem is that we don’t peep inside.
