Fewer Workless households means more security for families in - TopicsExpress

Fewer Workless households means more security for families in Lincoln. It is excellent to see the number of workless households falling - with 53,000 fewer across the East Midlands since 2010. I am particularly pleased that unemployment in Lincoln continues to fall with 63 fewer Jobseeker’s Allowance claimants in the last month and 1172 fewer than when I was elected in May 2010. This means more families in Lincoln with the self-respect and security that comes with a good job and a regular pay packet. This is further evidence that the Conservatives’ reforms to welfare and support for business to create more jobs, as part of our long-term economic plan, is working with new jobs being created by businesses such as Next which opened a store last month in the newly revamped Waterside Centre creating 32 new jobs. There’s further to go, but the worst thing we could do now is abandon the plan that is working - delivering a brighter, more secure future for families across Lincoln and Lincolnshire.
