Fidel Castro has written that Cuba will gladly help the United States in its fight against ebola. “We all understand that by carrying out this task [of sending medics to Africa] with the greatest of preparation and efficiency, we are protecting our people and our brothers, the other peoples of the Caribbean and Latin America, and are preventing its expansion, since unfortunately it has been introduced and can spread in the United States, which has so many personal ties and exchanges with the rest of the world. We will cooperate gladly with United States personnel in this task, and not in pursuit of peace between the two countries, which have been adversaries for many years, but in any case for peace in the world, an objective that can and should be pursued.”
