Fifteen movies. Do it if you want. Tagged by Arsenio Armas and Rafael Mendoza: Stranger than Fiction (Dir. Marc Forster, 2006) -- Because Will Ferrell is surprisingly understated here, because writer feelings, and because Emma Thompson. X-Men: Days of Future Past (Dir. Bryan Singer, 2014) -- CHARLES, WE NEED YOU TO HOPE AGAIN. Love Actually (Dir. Richard Curtis, 2003) -- Still the household Christmas movie. Insiang (Dir. Lino Brocka, 1976) -- Watched for no less than three classes in college. Twisted, raw, kinda chilling--and also, that Dado manong face smile. Freedom Writers (Dir. Richard LaGravenese, 2007) -- Part of why I will always believe that writing and storytelling can transform lives. Dead Poets Society (Dir. Peter Weir, 1989) -- Another part of the above. RENT (Dir. Chris Columbus, 2005) -- Because we are always caught between giving in to love or living in fear, and because there really is no day but today. Before Sunset (Dir. Richard Linklater, 2004) -- The first time I realized you could drive an entire full-length movie on one running conversation. Writers mind blown. Ruby Sparks (Dir. Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, 2012) -- I really just like writer movies I guess. Treasure Planet (Dir. Ron Clements and John Musker, 2002) -- I AM A QUESTION TO THE WORLD, NOT AN ANSWER TO BE HEARD. Proof (Dir. John Madden, 2005) -- Another stage adaptation, proving (heh) that math, mental breakdowns, family angst, and Gwyneth Paltrow do go together. Mean Girls (Dir. Mark Waters, 2004) -- This movie punched me in the face. It was awesome. (I hear it does car commercials--in Japan.) Pixel Perfect (Dir. Mark A.Z. Dippé, 2004) -- Best Disney Channel Original Movie ever, with a holographic rock star and discourses on what it means to be human. How to Train Your Dragon (Dir. Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders, 2010) -- More like how to break and rebuild the heart of anyone whos ever felt different or outcast. Sharknado (Dir. Anthony C. Ferrante, 2013) -- Obviously.
