Fifteen teams vie for Glory in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Women’s Under-20 competition The Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Women’s Under-20 Qualifiers Tournament kicks off today, July 9 and will go on to July 28, 2013 During this time fifteen national teams forming four groups will compete against each other in four venue countries; Suriname, Dominican Republic, Jamaica and British Virgin Islands, for a place in the Finals. Two teams will advance from each Group to compete in the Finals which is tentatively set to be staged in Puerto Rico in October on a date to be announced. In Group 1, the Dominican Republic meets Trinidad and Tobago on July 9 at the Estadio Panamericano in the Dominican Republic at 3:00pm. On July 11, Trinidad and Tobago will face Aruba at the same time while on July 13; hosts Dominican Republic play Aruba at 3:00pm. British Virgin Islands (BVI) will host Group 2 with Antigua & Barbuda competing against St Kitts and Nevis in the first game at 4:00pm on July 16, at the A.O. Shirley Recreation Ground in Tortola. The second game for that day will be played at that same venue at 6:00pm between British Virgin Islands and Anguilla. On July 18 St Kitts and Nevis plays Anguilla at 4:00pm and at 6:00pm the BVI will entertain Antigua & Barbuda. The last sets of games in Group 2 will be played on July 20 at 4:00pm and 6:00pm when Anguilla faces off with Antigua & Barbuda and BVI encounters St Kitts and Nevis respectively at the A.O Shirley Recreational Ground. The venue for Group 3 is the Andre Kamperveen Stadium in Suriname, with St. Vincent and the Grenadines meeting Grenada at 5:00pm in the opening game and the hosts playing Dominica at 7:00pm on July 16. On July 18, Dominica meets St Vincent and the Grenadines at 5:00pm while Suriname meets Grenada at 7:00pm at the same venue. On July 20, Grenada squares off with Dominica at 4:00pm and hosts Suriname plays the closing game against St Vincent and the Grenadines at 6:00pm. Group 4 matches will be staged in Kingston, Jamaica at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex on July 23, 25 and 27. The first game will see Cuba taking on Curacao at 4:00 pm followed by Bermuda vs. Jamaica at 6:00pm. The second set of games will be played on July 25 when Jamaica meets Curacao at 4:00 pm and Bermuda tackles Cuba at 6:00pm. On July 27, Curacao will challenge Bermuda at 4:00pm and at 6:00pm respectively; Jamaica plays Cuba marking the final game at this stage of the tournament.
