Fifteen years ago on Saturday, a southbound City of New Orleans passenger train struck a semi-truck at a rail crossing in Bourbonnais. Eleven people died, 122 were injured. The driver of the semi, who was ultimately found to blame for the accident, died in 2007. Heres what our front page looked like on March 16, 1999. As you can tell the preliminary reports were coming in at a hectic pace and the early estimates were somewhat off.
