Fifty-five of Carlsbad’s fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh - TopicsExpress

Fifty-five of Carlsbad’s fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh graders participated in a week long youth police academy. During the sessions students were exposed to many facets of law enforcement to include, patrol functions, swat, criminal investigations, crime scene investigations, pursuit driving, defensive tactics, DWI and tactical medicine. Students participated in physical fitness exercises and hands on activities. Each student received a certificate of completion and a medal. The program is designed to establish a positive relationship between the police department and the City’s youth and to give them insight into the many functions of law enforcement. Special thanks to Faith, Hope, and Love Foundation, Wal-Mart and C.O.P.S (Citizens Offering Police Support) for financial support. C.O.P.S. is comprised of graduates of the Carlsbad Police Department Citizen Police Academy.
