Fifty-one years ago today, on November 25th, 1963, we somberly watched the pooled television network coverage of the Washington DC funeral procession for our 35th President, John Fitzgerald Kennedy. In 1965, The Byrds adapted a traditional folk song in which the singer laments the death of a friend, with new words and arrangement by Jim McGuinn, recalling the tragedy in Dallas: HE WAS A FRIEND OF MINE
