Fifty years ago today (September 7, 1964), President Lyndon B. Johnson ran the “Daisy” campaign ad. The ad features a little girl plucking a daisy just before a nuclear explosion kills her. This commercial implied that if the Republican candidate, Sen. Barry Goldwater, was elected president, nuclear war would result.
