When you fight corruption, it fights back - Nuhu Ribadu (Former EFCC boss and currently PDP candidate for Adamawa State) For this part of this series, I will use material from an earlier update with more details from EFCC available records which I could lay hands on. EFCC AND OTHER ANTI-CORRUPTION EFFORTS - “In 2013, the Commission charged a total of 533 cases to court and recorded 117 convictions - Wilson Uwajareen (Head publicity, EFCC) - In 2012, the Commission charged a total of 900 cases to court and recorded 200 convictions - In 2011, the commission charged 1,500 cases to court and secured 600 - EFCC - Also on the list for 2013 is Aminu Sule Lamido, son of the current governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido. He was convicted on a money laundering charge on account of the undeclared monies he was arrested with at the Mallam Aminu Kano Airport. - EFCC - Nine Docked for Illegal Dealing in Petroleum Products in 2013 - EFCC - Timipre Sylva, Bayelsa (former governor of Bayelsa State) N6.46 billion 2012. Out on bail as dictated by the judiciary. - EFCC - 200 properties, including hotels have been seized from CORRUPT PUBLIC OFFICIALS as part of the clampdown on corruption. - EFCC - Otunba Gbenga Daniel (former Ogun State Governor) N58 billion fraud 2011. Out on bail as dictated by the judiciary - EFCC - Adamu Abdullahi Nasarawa (former governor of Nasarawa state) 149-count corruption charge of stealing N15 billion. Out on bail by the judiciary. - EFCC - Governor Rochas Okorocha is being probed and thats only what can be done constitutionally; hes still got IMMUNITY! In 2014, the sacked chairmen of the 27 local governments in Imo State had told the EFCC that Okorocha misappropriated funds from a N13.5bn bond raised by his predecessor, Ikedi Ohakim. The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria also alleged that since June 2011, the Joint Accounts Committee in Imo State had not functioned and all statutory allocations due to the local governments totaling over N80bn had been misappropriated by Okorocha. - EFCC - Governor Uduaghan was being investigated for the “suspicious award of Asaba International Airport contracts and other projects during his tenure as Secretary to the State Government under Ogidigbodigbo. This investigation is under his brother and party leader, GEJ! - EFCC - The EFCC has reportedly earmarked the sum of N284.6 million for the prosecution of 17 former governors. This juicy list includes Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia, Chimaroke Nnamani, of Enugu Attahiru Bafarawa of Sokoto, Adamu Abdullahi, of Nasarawa, Boni Haruna of Adamawa, Jolly Nyame of Taraba, Michael Botmang of Plateau, Saminu Turaki of Jigawa, Joshua Dariye also of Plataeu, Ayo Fayose of Ekiti, Danjuma Goje of Gombe, Akwe Doma of Nasarawa, Adebayo Alao-Akala of Oyo, Otunba Gbenga Daniel of Ogun, Timipre Sylva of Bayelsa and Rashidi Ladoja of Oyo. Im certain the list is being expanded as we speak! I suggest the legisLOOTERS also be given adequate representation on this list, scaling of fences not withstanding! - N2.7 Billion pensions fraud was uncovered. This is a racket that has been going on for ages, but was discovered under GEJ! Culprits were prosecuted, and IT MIGHT INTEREST YOU TO KNOW THAT THE JUDGE THAT GAVE THE SLAP-ON-THE-WRIST N750k judgment was suspended on account of that! GEJ approved that suspension. - N4 Billion is being saved monthly as a result of pensions fraud that has been going on for ages, which were STOPPED UNDER GEJ! - 50,000 unpaid pensioners were discovered and their pension was restored under GEJ! Kindly note that this is a wickedness that has been going on for ages! - N370Billion Naira fraudulent claims in oil subsidy claims was detected by the presidential task force and 40 Subsidy thieves are being prosecuted as we speak. - On account of automated tracking of the movement of petroleum products by PROJECT AQUILA, 20 Million litres of PMS (fuel) was SAVED DAILY between 2011 & 2012! *Pull out Deacon calculator* For just a year, that is 7,300,000,000 = SEVEN BILLION LITRES OF PMS = N708,100,000,000 Naira. For two years, N1.42 TRILLION NAIRA WAS SAVED by this effort! Aunty Ngo and Deziani, UN mean some of these people shouting kworoshon have been STEALING A MINIMUM OF N1.42TRILLION NAIRA EVERY TWO YEAR? * Deacon faints, pastor throws me cold anointing oil, I wake up* AND GEJ STOPPED THIS? Simple! - 73,000 ghost pensioners were DETECTED and DELETED from the head of service and police pensions under GEJ - GEJ approved the dismissal of a Judge that dismissed the case of a grievous corruption case against a Bank CEO before taking the defendants plea. - A racket in fertilizer subsidy that has been going on for almost 40 years was stopped by GEJ, Sabine N50Billion in a single year! - GEJ approved the sack of a Judge that upheld the results of a fraudulent election in OSUN state even though the Judges decision benefited his own party *Pause* Can you now understand why they keep calling him CLUELESS? He doesnt know how to do JIPITI! Where wuruwuru and disregard of rule of law is concerned, unlike OBJ and Buhari who tries people severally, courts find them innocent severally but he still jails them anyway for 300 years, violating the maxim of APPROPRIATE PUNISHMENT even if they are found guilty, GEJ doesnt know how to BREAK THE LAW! And if you do wuruwuru, no matter whom it benefits, he deals with you if you break it. IN TERMS OF BREAKING LAWS, ARM TWISTING PEOPLE AND SHOWING UTMOST DISDAIN FOR DEMOCRATIC AND JUDICIAL PROCESSES, GEJ IS CLUELESS, HE DOESNT KNOW JACK ABOUT DOING SUCH! And they (beneficiaries of the old corrupt order) are punishing him for that. Question: WHY DID YOU ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE FOOLISHLY SUCKED UP? This is to enable the commission prosecute corrupt people IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR without complimentary cards syndrome! Mercifully, some regime part of Abacha who stole no shishi according to Buhari, Babangida, Buhari and Shagari regimes were not covered. I used the word mercifully cos the mess would have stunk to the high heavens, possibly in the negative sef. Observe a trend during election years: CORRUPTION SPIKES! Why? Why????? I have two suggestions in that regards: either we pass laws stipulating LONGER TERMS so the elections bazaar will be far in-between or we pass laws that PROHIBIT certain kinds of spendings during elections. Second option is a tall order, ask Dezianni and her PIB! Our legislaTHIEVES aka LegisLOOTERS would rather scale fences than do what is beneficial for the citizenry. Im also having the suspicion that if this thing is broken down month-by-month, December would carry the lowest records, cos in addition to other things, thats when these LegisLOOTERS bargain for Christmas Ghana-must-go with impeachment threats! Clearly, Abacha deserves no mention, again, unless by Buhari his SAN! We were carrying the list on our head! Literally! Someone someday pointed out that Abdusalami really wiped us clean but was forgiven for chopping and leaving! The trend between 1998 and 1999 seems to validate that thinking. We nearly carry the class for head again! Baba Iyabo came and the records speak for themselves! We were CONSTANTLY carrying the list on our head, and at best, singing from the bass position of the Chior throughout Obasanjos tenure! Now, I find it funny that this same Obasanjo is coming to accuse GEJ of corruption! Strange, very very strange! Yarardua easily leads the pack as the best amongst them on this record on corruption, that is, until he fell sick and the cabal ruled by proxy. We attained our highest CPI score of 2.7 out of 10 in his regime prior to his administration. After all our azonto aka ruling from anywhere in the world, GEJ came on board amid a corruption index taking a nosedive again! A cursory look at the GEJ regime shows that FROM THE TIME GEJ TOOK OVER the till now, corruption has been on the DECLINE, contrary to what bad-belle propaganda is trying to paint. Certainly we are NOWHERE near where we should be, BUT this administration of GEJ has SET US ON THE PATH OF GREATNESS ONCE MORE! Clearly, GEJ is the change we need, not Halliburton bribe taking, Jefferson bribery-indicted, $2.7Billion missing funds agents! CHANGE STARTED THE DAY GEJ WAS SWORN IN AS PRESIDENT of this country, and by that thinking, anyone talking of change again, watch it, he wants to lead us back to the days of carrying the list on our heads! Thats definitely what we dont want! On this note, can APC please find another thing to scream instead of abusing that word change unless they are telling us they want to turn us back to ignominy.
