Fight back against illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing and seafood fraud. Tell President Obama’s Task Force to institute seafood traceability. We have a rare opportunity to tackle a key driver of overfishing. Illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and seafood fraud undermines the responsible management of our oceans and fisheries, puts food security and regional stability at risk, and is linked to major human rights violations and organized crime. It unfairly competes with legally-caught U.S. seafood products, jeopardizing a million jobs and $116 billion in sales each year while leaving consumers in the dark about their seafood choices. President Obama has established a Task Force to Combat IUU Fishing and Seafood Fraud to explore seafood traceability and other measures to combat this threat to our oceans, wallets and health. But we only have until September 2 to make our voices heard. Support seafood traceability and increased transparency in the seafood supply chain by signing our letter to the Task Force now. These actions would benefit consumers, law-abiding fishermen and businesses, and our oceans.
