Fight for Womens Rights Continues in 2014 Todays marks the 41st anniversary of the Supreme Court ruling on Roe v. Wade, which established the fundamental, constitutional right of women to seek safe and legal reproductive health services. The date is being marked by days of action on both sides of the debate: pro-choice and anti-choice. In the 41 years since Roe, women in America have had safer access to medical care that is guaranteed under the Constitution, said Atima Omara, President of the Young Democrats of America. However, anti-choice groups remain hellbent on undermining the constitutional right of half the American population, something we continue to fight with our campaign and issue advocacy programs. In state legislatures across the country, anti-choice groups are attempting to move legislation that undermines womens constitutional rights to healthcare decision-making, added Erin Carlstrom, Executive Vice President of the Young Democrats of America. Its imperative that each attempt is challenged. Even in states with pro-choice advocates in their legislatures, we must continue to organize all citizens, to fight these encroachments.
