Fight leads RPD to man wanted for child molesting Joshua A. Renner A Richmond man wanted for child molesting was arrested after police responded to a call of a fight Thursday on the city’s north side. Joshua A. Renner, 28, of 223 N. 13th St. in Richmond was taken into custody on a warrant charging him with two counts of child molesting, one a Class A felony and the other a Class C felony. Renner also was wanted on a parole violation, authorities said. Richmond Police Department officers responded to the 800 block of North 16th Street after receiving a call about a fight and possible shot fired in the area. Renner, the victim in the incident, was pistol-whipped by a suspect and suffered an injury to his eye in the altercation, witnesses said. Police said the fight was not related to the child molesting charges, which were filed Jan. 10 in Wayne County Superior Court I. Before police arrived, Renner left the scene of the fight and attempted to evade officers, but they were able to track him down. Renner was taken to Reid Hospital for treatment before he was lodged in the Wayne County Jail on $50,000 surety bond. According to an affidavit of probable cause, Renner allegedly molested a 12-year-old girl, who was known to him. Renner denied the allegations when interviewed by authorities, but the affidavit indicates Renner failed a lie-detector test administered by Richmond police. The document also says Renner previously has been convicted of various felonies and the state will file information for a habitual offender enhancement in the case. A Class A felony conviction carries a sentence range of 20 to 50 years in prison, and the range for a Class C felony is two to eight years. pal-item/article/20140124/NEWS01/301240016/Fight-leads-RPD-to-man-wanted-for-child-molesting?nclick_check=1
