Figures released earlier this month showed that 2300 people started an apprenticeship in the Gosport area in 2013/14 up 570 since 2010/11 when 1730 people took on apprenticeships locally. Last week we received even more good news as NATS launched its first ever apprenticeship scheme for young engineers which will be based at CEMAST. The three and a half year programme will see apprentices develop the skills necessary to maintain the technology that underpins some of the world’s busiest and most complex airspace, all while working towards real qualifications and earning a salary. Applications will be accepted until the end of March; you will need to be aged 18-24 with a minimum of three A-levels or a BTEC level 3, or equivalent, in an engineering related field.
