Fiji 7s wizard will not be assisting Digicel Fiji 7s head coach Alivereti Dere at the World Cup in Moscow at the end of this month. Serevi’s cited personal commitments in having to deal with work and sorting out his US permanent resident visa application which will keep him from joining the team. In a statement on Fiji Rugby Serevi says after thorough discussions with his partners who started a business three years ago to grow the game of rugby in North America and beyond, his commitment towards that goal is demanding. The 7s maestro is currently in Washington DC conducting clinics and although he is humbled by being asked to help Fiji Rugby during the World Cup, especially after seeing them play in Hong Kong. Serevi has passed on a message to the players. “Make sure they train hard, focus on the goals to win the world cup, which I believe they can do for all Fijians back home and abroad, play like it’s the last game of your life and give it your all”. Fiji Rugby Union chief executive, Manasa Baravilala received a call from Serevi early this morning expressing his regret on not being able to join the team in Moscow. Despite Serevi’s absence, Dere will still have the assistance of former rep, Tomasi Cama Snr in Russia.
