Fiji Now Fiji Air Ways Saga THE FIJI TIMES reports that Fijis NATIONAL carrier, Fiji Airways, maintains that its pilots and crew are highly trained and capable of addressing emergencies on flights. The statement by CEO and managing director Stefan Pichler follows complaints by a passenger on a Fiji Airways flight that had turned back to Nadi after departing for Auckland. However, Fiji Airways also recently stood down one of its pilots from flying after a hard landing of one of its A330 aircraft in Sydney. See picture [courtesy of C4.5] of damage done to the Fiji Airways plane. These incidents should not come as any surprise given that both the Chief Pilot and the Training and Safety Officer each failed their exams twice and had to resit them a third time when learning to fly the A330 in France. They are responsible for teaching other pilots??!! What is also scary is that each of these so-called senior, well trained and experienced pilots repeated their failures in Australia. Bloggers have reported that Khaiyums interference in the running of the National Airlines has dropped safety standards and led to TWO CEOs jumping ship!
