#FileStory In Case you Missed it: Administrator from the Embu Provincial General hospital is in trouble after his wife took him to court for allegedly burning her property. Denis Karura Kireri, the hospital’s boss, was charged with burning up his wife’s underpants, other assorted clothes and her important certificates after she allegedly refused to talk to him. According to the Prosecutor Frank Mnene, the accused returned home from work and was served with dinner before his wife went to bed. It is said that after having his meal he started drinking his wine, a habit he was used to. During all this, the wife, who was unwell was in their bedroom sleeping with their 2 year old child. The court heard that the accused stormed their bedroom accusing the wife of refusing to talk to him and ignoring him. She allegedly explained to him that she was not feeling well, a reason he disputed and instead took her clothes from the wardrobe and started burning them. He also took his certificates and destroyed them before beating her up. Fearing for her life, she fled and reported the matter to the nearest police station leading to his arrest. Senior Principal Magistrate Paul Biwott said that the property was worth Sh120, ooo. The items included 15 underpants, 20 dresses, 5 skirt suits, 10 trouser suits, 15 dress tops, 10 bras, 5 clutch bags, 8 pair of shoes, original certificates and her ID. However, the accused denied the charges and was released on a Sh50,000 cash bail.
