Filipino Saint for the Day : November 24 - June Keithley - Castro was a prominent broadcast journalist and television personality in the Philippines. In 1988, the Republic of the Philippines awarded her the Medal of Honor- one of the highest distinctions ever bestowed on a Filipino citizen, for her courageous radio coverage of the Philippine EDSA Revolution of 1986 which toppled the dictatorship of President Ferdinand Marcos. She produced a documentary series on the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary, entitled: The Woman Clothed with the Sun, filmed in various locations around the world. The series was presented to Blessed (Pope) John Paul II as an official gift from the Philippine Ambassador to the Holy See. In April 1992, the two-part episode on the Apparitions of Our Lady, Mary Mediatrix of All Grace in Carmel- Lipa City, Philippines was awarded Most Outstanding Television Special for 1991 by the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Her work had aroused great interest and she became a much sought-after speaker, traveling extensively to relay the supernatural events and Marian apparitions occurring all over the world. She was a founding member and president of the Center for Peace Asia, a non-stock, non-profit foundation devoted to spreading Our Ladys messages of peace and which focuses on prayer as a means to achieving this. She devoted all of her time to spreading the Virgin Marys messages. In 2009, she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer which she fought valiantly until her death on Sunday, November 24, 2013- the Solemnity of Christ the King. She was 66 years old.
