Filming yourself reacting to TV/movie/video game scenes and - TopicsExpress

Filming yourself reacting to TV/movie/video game scenes and posting them to the web isnt just a thing, its a bona-fide phenom. A very meta and weird phenom. Are these filmed reactions sincere, I wonder? People often behave differently when they know theyre being observed. Are these people wittingly acting for the camera, projecting a persona/experience thats just as deliberately crafted as a tweet or Facebook post? Or are the reactions largely genuine, and were seeing some kind of time-shifted replacement for the group-watch theater experience? Meaning: I watch the scene and react, and then go online and watch reactions from others, and somehow we share this moment despite distance, language and time. Perhaps its both, or something else. To me, its a weird practice, but Im very fascinated by it.
