Filth Movie Review: 6.5/10 Messy, naughty, indulgent, dark and completely out of control this movie is a truly jarring experience that can go from hilarious to disgusting to emotional to weird and back again all within the span of seconds which ultimately makes it quite entertaining. By far the main thing that keeps this movie from falling apart is James McAvoy who constantly fires on all cylinders with never ending energetic charisma as he is able to make you laugh, cringe and be touched all without missing a beat. Unfortunately the movie does have its fair share of problems which mainly are that its overall chaotic style and story are so all over the place that it is impossible to ever become truly engaged in anything which makes you only able to have fun with its all out craziness in a peripheral sense. So basically this movie is meant to be enjoyed as a piece of pure superficial entertainment and on that level it is a success that makes sure to keep you from ever becoming bored and thanks to McAvoys performance it works just as much as it needs to.
