Final Race at Rock Island Indoor BMX Recap: Illinois State Qualifier #1 for 2015 108 Riders = 28 Motos - They all Braved the Weather! 8 Riders in Strider was like a turning a burn barrell over in the summer and watching all the garter snakes scatter. Cameron Lindon took the win with Abe Whitemore in the 2 spot. Genessa Anderson took the win in 26 to 30 Ladies Cruiser with Christine Schiavone in the runner up position all the way from Canada. Krystal Smith was a contender but crashed out in the main. Koch and Gehrke traded wins in the cruiser motos but the King Kobra took the win in the main. They battled. Dale Riley drove in from Oklahoma because he didnt have anything going on and he wanted to check us out. Nice Sunday Stroll for him. He won the Consi Main. Nice! Jaelynn Shrake won the 9 Novice class against 4 other boys. She Rocks! Mystery Moto happened again with another donation from IM BMX. Moto 15 - 2nd round winner - which was Zach Meincke - He won a brand new GHP frame and didnt have a clue. Very Cool. 50/50 and Raffle were on point along with footdown and the usual shenanigans. We still were finding Nerf darts everywhere from New Years Eve. Cruiser Open at the end of the day was filled with fire and brimstone. My pants got caught in my chain and as i fell, my pedal left a trail of sparks and smoke. The rest of the moto was also nuts with Hans Scmidgall getting the win with Kitsis and Big Beach in hot pursuit. It was a great way to end another awesome Rock Island Indoor BMX season. So many cool things happened this season at the indoor. It is nice to see the riders just hitting it lap after lap. They cant get enough. We got an updated version of our Pro Gate controls which now has a buzzer as the safety tone. This was a suggestion we put out to them and within 10 days we had it. Awesome! Too many people to Thank and i would surely leave someone out. You know who they are - you see them at the track all the time. These people make it possible for us to race these races. There are also people you never see that are behind the scenes that make it possible for us to race these races. All of these puzzle pieces are what our track is made up of. We are lucky to have you - and that you want to help and make it better. I have always had the thought that our track can be as great as we want it to be. The sky is the limit. Trust me - i am completely OK with a totally awesome set up. Lets look out to summer. Quad City National are coming back! We have big plans in store for you so put us on your schedule this summer and race with us. Thanks Again for racing with us and to all the Volunteers who give there time. We will see you next Winter. One last thing - as we were packing up after the race an 8 year old rider called out to me - as i looked over at him he said - Hey, Thanks for putting on these races for us. I then said to him - Thanks for coming. He left me puzzled. I thought - wow this kid really understands what were really doing here. Finally!
