Final goodbye to our friend Stella Young today. The memorial was held at Melbourne Town Hall, home of the Melbourne Comedy Festival, and was a beautiful celebration of her life. Stella was an amazing comrade with an intellect you loved and feared at the same time - a writer, comedian, activist and a teacher. The last time I saw her, she was hosting a Political Asylum show that I performed at, my favourite room and one that wed worked many times together. Im glad my final memories are of her zipping on and off stage, dropping truth as always with the crowd in the palm of her hand like a kindergarden teacher reading to an adoring classroom. Her passing is a huge loss, and I will miss her support and solidarity.
