Finally - why I failed to observe comet ISON from upper troposphere on Nov.30th morning. It was a THY flight just west of Cyprus at echelon 37,000 ft (11.3km), the sky was clear, I faced the eastward window and clearly seen Mercury. The problem was the magnitude of the comet itself, +3.5m or fainter at the moment (according to Filip Fratevs photometry). Twilight sky has been way too bright to see the dying comet! Dixi.
