Finally , 326 days after being diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma - my amazing , outstanding beautiful Grace has completed her 14th & final cycle of chemotherapy ! We still have to go through the usual cycle of Graces counts dropping & coming back up . A full set of scans , tests & MRIs, she also needs her central line removed from her chest & feeding tube removed from her face. After all of this , hopefully life should resume to some sort of normality & we can get this special wee lady settled back into school. We should hopefully be home tomorrow. The last 2 chemos have been pretty hard going with bone pain lasting pretty much since round 13 up until the start of round 14 & then sickness & bone pain last night - grace is pretty wiped out & has slept most of the last 2 days. But, she did get rather excited & well who could blame her, that chemo was finishing & she woke up to get some gifts from the fantastic nurses we have here on Scheihallon & take some pictures so we can remember the moment the chemo finally finished. Itll take 5 years & every 3 months of scans & tests for Grace to be considered in remission but hopefully the hardest part of our journey is coming to an end. This is by far the hardest battle my family has ever had to face & were not the ones going through the actual treatment. To watch your child have to fight for their life , knowing there is nothing you can physically do, other than be there & put your trust & childs life in the hands of doctors, has to be the scariest & worst experience Ive ever been through . We always refer to Graces rainbow , as a rainbow symbolises hope & there was one outside the window the day she was diagnosed - we never let go of that hope or lost sight of Graces rainbow & Grace certainly danced through her storm - Grace you are the strongest wee person I know , we are all so incredibly proud of you. And finally, as ever - we as a family are all so incredibly grateful for the support that we continue to receive from everyone . The local community , supporters on her page , local businesses , Moray Primary & Mckechnie Dance School & all our friends & family - you have all Im different ways helped Grace & our family through this.
