Finally: Hospital battles end in 2014 Facility leased to HCA By Mike Wright The Citrus Memorial Hospital transaction crawled along like a slow-moving freight train, punctuated at times with whistle stops along the way. By Nov. 1, Hospital Corporation of America took control of the hospital with a $127 million, 50-year lease that had been negotiated over the course of 12 months. The year also brought a coming together of sorts between the Citrus County Hospital Board, which owns the hospital, and Citrus Memorial Health Foundation, which had leased it prior to the HCA contract. The two boards, which had feuded since 2009 and spent millions of dollars in legal expenses fighting in court, negotiated many of the details with a four-person committee made up of two representatives from each board. This so-called “gang of four” met as needed and was able to whittle down the HCA contract to terms both sides could live with. chronicleonline/content/finally-hospital-battles-end-2014?pc=1 #citruscountychronicle #citrusmemorialhospital #hca
