Finally I have done it! All credit goes to Peter Van Geit and his wonderful team of volunteers. Thanks to Tom Brouns for the swimming training at Ottiampakkam Quary, Anna University Swimming pool and Race Course Pool. The day started with a bad note that I have lost my car key and searching mindlessly for about half an hour before the race starts. I was searching and waiting at Agni College without knowing what to do next. In the process I dint pack my swimming and Cycling gears properly. Finally without locking the car I went to the swimming venue. Surprisingly swimming went very well non-stop within 1 hour and I finished fourth in the half iron category, but due to the unexpected tension at the beginning of the race I ended up with heavy headache. Cycling start was not that well, I packed all tubes and gears on my shorts once started from the venue one by one started falling at every 200 meters and I fell down from the cycle in the confusion. Managed to start again and the ride till Thirukkalukkundram was absolutely perfect but missed the control point went two km inside the city and searching the control point all over. Then took selfie at the atm counter and turned back and found the control point. After small hydration stop restarted my race against the heavy head wind. My inexperience in cycle proved costly that I pushed myself very hard with high gears against the strong head wind till thirupporur and ended with strong muscle cramps. I thought that my journey to the first half iron man was over at that point. But relaxed and Stretched for few seconds and started with low gears slowly from there. Reached the agni college after around 12.20 and started my running. The aid station volunteers were the one who helped me to finish through their motivation and finished my first lap and in the second lap Peter Van Geit and one more Super SR phased me throughout the run on his cycle and helped me finish my first ever attempt with a successful note that to within 9 hours at 7th place out of 25. I feel amazed by the way peter van geit, ctc and its volunteers worked throughout tirelessly with passion to help the unknown people to overcome from their fear and to achieve new heights in their life . I am really thankful to every volunteers and I am sure that after completing the next year full iron man I will do the selfless volunteering with CTC.
