Finally I take a position: When Jesus and the apostles talked about scriptures, they were referring to the Hebrew bible (Tanak) - what we now call the Old Testament in our orthodox bibles. The written gospel accounts, epistles, and apocalypse are as authoritative as scripture but must be rightly divided and understood differently as Apostle Peter advised (2 Peter 3:16). Our responsibility as Christian is to continue to search and interpret those scriptures and see how Jesus is now our new creation covenant mediator/second Adam, our wisdom, our justification, our righteousness, our life…..our everything. Hallelujah!
