Finally Serial will air tomorrow but I can see a weird kind of storm brewing, not unlike the True Detective thing where the fans took it way farther than it was ever intended to be taken and ended up being let down by the end. Reddit is overtaken by those who think Adnan is innocent mainly because the first episode is about the alibi witness that was never questioned during trial, something in and of itself that might have gotten the case thrown out. Good lawyers could have destroyed this case -- but that doesnt mean he didnt do it. Nevertheless, every stone is being upended -- because thats what the internet does. Sleuthing is fun and it is never-ending. But to take it one step further, and maybe something the producers did not think about: what happens when its over and many of the players have to return to normal life? What if Adnans verdict is overturned on appeal, as it very well might - what then? How does real life interact with a case like this? Very strange indeed. I cant see how he didnt do it, though. Theyll have to prove it to me.
