Finally The Much Awaited! Story Review MAA, Murder and Morphine By https://facebook/MillenniumPost Till quite late in my life, I assumed that films are made for pure entertainment, wherein there would be this pretty heroine, the handsome hero and a rogue villian coupled with some supporting cast and they all combine this regular storyline with a hint of songs adding to the exceeding value of entertainment. As I matured, got better understanding, so did I realize that cinema underwent this wave of change, running parallel to me it seemed. Over this time I realized film making is much more than huge box office collections or commercial awards. They can be a huge instrumental factor in bringing about a phase of renaissance, revolutionise peoples thoughts and incite sentiments towards any social cause or mishap or even injustice. Came my way this particular film, which shook my belief system, broke the world of wonder I was living in, questioned my wishful thinking and threw me face to face with the hard ugly realities of life, trust me when I say that my identity went for a toss after learning the truth. Like any other thinker, I often used to introspect and get into serious deliberations about random issues I experienced in life. From love troubles to career decisions, they included all. Never did I have to do what I was willingly forced to do after understanding the plight of women shown in this film. Result- I straight away got carried towards deliberations which questioned my identity and I felt like in lurch to know the answers desperately. What to do, where to go and how to help occupied my mind and I felt this strange sense of helplessness and anger along with shocks and surprises. How lucky was I to not be a part of that horrifying scandal, how lucky that my chastity and self esteem were still intact but what about those women who became victim to such horror and are still awaiting justice. They say, time moves on, it never stays for anyone, but for those women, it definitely has stopped when they witnessed the terrifying terror. The movie runs on the question, Who am I? This is a question am confused about now. Why do I have to constantly take approval from people in my life and outside to get reminded that am living, surviving and breathing in this world. That in order to exhibit by wishes and desires, I first have to think and rethink that what others will think and hope my actions not result in controversial cases. Why cant I venture out late with the same confidence as that random man exudes. Have I just been reduced to mere object of interest, fun and fulfillment at the mercy of that man till his obligations are showered upon me. What use are the movements like feminism, loud cries and heavy speeches discussed at public forums when crime against women still exist and will continue to do so. What kind of independence are we really living in, where saviours have turned sinners (police), political ideologies manipulated for personal benefits (leaders) and there exist this huge nexus of fraud and crime not allowed to reach its final climax of justice. What about the highly regarded and required education we are inculcating, where there is not even a single mention of such a hideous crime anywhere. Irony at its best! The ground reality, if you ask me has not changed. India still is poverty stricken, women are still abused and violence still perpetrates creating and gaining a few handful of pimps who are ready to sell off the country and destroy its integrity along with the people who can just sing the national anthem, but not understand its true essence or even believe that truth shall always triumph.
