Finally, a bit of a funny story regarding my sister and her recovery from her heart/lung transplant. She is still recovering and learning to breath again on her own. Also, her various organs (both new and old) are having to learn to work with each other, having appropriate oxygen levels for the first time in six years, etc. Apparently the one area that is still a problem is her stomach...just doesnt want to digest food properly, which can be a problem and is of concern to the doctors. So shes been through this massive procedure, costing who knows how much (Im think several hundred thousand) and they have an issue with food not being digested properly. With all the technology and doctors they have thrown at this entire issue, youd think theyd have some high-tech, wiz-bang, remedy for this. Youd be thinking wrong. The approach they used was decidedly low-tech and a confirmation that at least one long-standing internet posting is apparently at least partially true. Did they use high-tech lasers? No. Some new super-drug? No. They used....ready for it?.....an IV of of 3 liters of cola. Yes. Cola...you read that correctly. And not even Coca Cola...they went for the cheap stuff... Shasta cola! And they didnt even get liters....30 small cans dumped into an IV for 30 hours. So if you wonder whats in cola and what it does for/to your insides, heres a top-of-the-line medical facility using it to dissolve things in your stomach! WOW!
