Finally after an up and down trip, I was on my way home… In the last few weeks of my trip i had been reflecting on why I hadnt enjoyed this trip as much as my others… and I had come to the conclusion that not one big thing contributed to my unhappiness but a lot of little things that piled up, like the disrespect i received from men on the streets, the great emphasize on and importance of personal appearance, what seemed like to be fairly open racism, the social stratification and more. I dont want to say that i received nothing from this trip, i just didnt find exactly what i was looking for, and maybe that was a good thing. Still I gathered information about why I loved Guatemala, and what I dont want out of my next trip… So with new information.. I narrowed down my next adventure to either Bolivia or India… both equally enticing, but in different ways. Bolivia, would be full of hikes, spanish speaking, and an interesting indigenous population, where as India, lacking spanish would be unlike anything I have ever experienced in my entire life... While In the Miami airport, I was filling up my water bottle at a water fountain when I was approached by a rather timid women, who i guessed to be from India from her appearance and accent.. who asked me if the water was safe for drinking.. when I replied yes, she still skeptically looked at me asking, and its complimentary?… She looked so grateful, and asked for a drink from my bottle, letting her, she gave me a sincere thank you and we both continued on our way… Me left completely awestruck and intrigued by her, and what her life must be like… I dont believe in fate or signs, but I think this encounter made my decision for me and to India I will go… let the planning process and excitement begin.
