Finally got around to watching a Cat Stevens concert from 1971, - TopicsExpress

Finally got around to watching a Cat Stevens concert from 1971, re-released in 2008, his 60th birthday. It’s a very short live concert (30 minutes) filmed at the KCET studios in Los Angeles. A lot of people wrote this guy off as a sandal wearing, granola eating, bell bottom wearing, pie-in-the-sky artist and this concert will do little to dissuade you from that surface critique of him. However, if you get nothing else from this short set it’s clear that even after he had a hit with many more to follow, he wasn’t long for this type of journey; his songs speak in depth about the search he was on and would ultimately reach. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat_Stevens#Religious_conversion To my ear his songs are very cleaver; choosing very interesting chords and changes on which to sing non traditional melodies over. Cat Stevens: Majikat Special Edition, is a much better Stevens DVD but this slice of hippie life is a very interesting watch. amazon/Tea-Tillerman-Live-Cat-Stevens/dp/B001BWYTAI
