Finally got my bum into gear (been so busy havent had the chance!) and have finished the first lot of outdoor snake pits. Escape and break-in proof these pits are the start of a very important new direction for the husbandry of our wildlife. Too many people who keep and work with native animals keep them in small enclosures or plastic storage tubs. We are working towards giving our birds, marsupials and reptiles more room, better enclosures and more environmentally friendly enclosures. What you cant see in some of these photos is the underground insulated hides to help create a more stable environment. As well as underground drainage and plants to provide shelter and absorb excess nutrients and waste this should provide our snakes with a happy and healthy environment :) (pics are before the lids were permanently secured)
