Finally got the BKR8EIX plugs in the Cruze today. Heres a bit of background. I ran the OE plugs (2012 Cruze Eco) for a while at 0.035 while I was stock, then gapped them down to 0.025 as soon as I got tuned. Shortly afterward, I tried running the Autolite copper plugs. I had those at 0.032 initially with zero spark blowout or misfire of any kind. After about 3000 miles, I started getting blowout again, so I pulled them and found one had opened up to 0.038. I replaced all of them with another set of Autolite copper plugs, this time gapping to 0.030. Same thing, within a few thousand miles, the gap opened up. I then went back to stock at 0.030. Was fine for a while when it was cold out, but as soon as the weather warmed up, I started getting misfires again. Gapped down to 0.028 and was fine for a while, then started getting more spark blowout in hotter days with AC on. Gapped down to 0.027, and it was better, but still had occasional blips when making 3rd gear pulls on the highway. That, and there was a notable decrease in low end power with the OE plugs over the copper plugs. From the testing Lance (Blue Angel) did on CruzeTalk, I ran the BKR8EIX plugs, which are one heat range colder than stock, but also iridium. They appear to be the same as the OE plugs, but being one heat range colder, and not having a platinum pad on the ground strap like the OE plugs do. Im not sure if this will affect longevity. Here are my impressions: Plugs were perfectly gapped out of the box at 0.030 and I left them that way. I was using feeler gauges to check and 0.030 was very snug. Car MUCH better low end power from idle all the way up to 2500RPM. I had noticed before that I constantly had rev and launch much higher than usual with AC on during hotter days with the OE iridium plugs, and no longer had to do that today, even with an extra person in the car. I was able to drive it with AC on max almost as if it wasnt on at all. I can accelerate up a slight incline in 6th gear at 35mph now, whereas Id have to shift down to 5th before just to maintain speed. Keep in mind, ECO gearing here. The whole time I was driving today, I was cruising in 6t gear at 30mph very smoothly. Crossing my fingers that the gap stays consistent.
