Finally have my synthetic Uilleann drone reeds tested and ready to market. They work well in my own pipes, My Taylor set, and a Geoff Wooff set that I have here, all concert pitch. The diameters are as follows: Bass reed ~ 7/16 at largest part Baritone & Tenor ~ 13/32 Most sets Ive put these reeds in they all fit just fine but some have a tenor stock bore that is around 3/8 which is small and an issue most have seen with Ezee drone tenor reeds. Making synthetic reeds you cant get the thin walls like you can with tubes and many sets were never built with synthetic reeds in mind but the bass and baritones fit in almost any set, its the tenor that we have to pay close attention to. The bridles that hold the tongue on the tenor are tight but removable and can slide off and be replaced with strips of electrical tape cut with scissors which will enable folks with small tenor stock bores to use the tenor reed. I actually prefer 3M plastic tape as you can slide it like a bridle even when its tight. I wish I had more access to various makers sets so I could give a larger list of sets they will work in but I wont until more folks try them. For tapered reed seats which seems to be about half of the sets I see, just add hemp to make the taper as the tenons are straight.
