Finally heading home from South Africa this week. I cant wait to get home and: - Order food and drinks and get exactly what I ordered; - Drive on roads that dont have one or more of the following: - potholes everywhere, - tolls, - flooding, or - massive mammals that attempt to remove our car, by any means they deem fitting, to remove our car from a section of road that theyve laid claim to; - Park my car in a shopping centre car park and then leave said car park without tipping someone for watching my car and guiding me; - Eat decent seafood; - Have a break from hearing lekker, hundred percent, yaa, howsit, isit, etc; - That lizard that lives somewhere in our thatched roof and poops on the bed every day without fail; - People who take such pride in themselves that even if they live in a shack town they go out or to work looking absolutely immaculate; - Going out for food and being able to order something other than my choice of meat with one of four sides that are the same wherever you go. (Seriously EVERYWHERE EXACTLY THE SAME. Its either rice, chips, mash, or veges - and veges is mashed pumpkin and creamed spinach.) Things Ill miss: - Road rules being suggestions at best; - People moving to the side of the road to let others past if they wish to go faster; - Warm, genuine people who will think nothing of interacting with or even picking up a child because they have a warm culture; - People subtly dancing or singing while they work or stand around (sometimes its hard to tell which they are aiming for); - Amazingly good red meat; - A reasonable cost of living; - An absence of bogans; - Some stunning sights and inspiring experiences.
