Finally in a place where I can gather my thoughts on todays amazing events with all of the brothers that Ive met through the years, in some way or another, under one roof with one common goal: providing a space and an opportunity to share our thoughts with one another on what it means to be a black man / minority male in this country and what we can do to improve our plight moving forward. I teared up twice today: Once when I noticed a 3 year old boy engaged in the conversation and again when I looked from one side of the room to the other and noticed that there were no more seats so people, without complaint stood next to the wall still engaged and focused on the conversation at hand. A very moving day and overwhelming positive step in the direction awakening our young Kings as well as our community. I have so many people to thank for making this day come to fruition, but I must start out with God, which through him all things are possible. Scott Hughes and Ms. Alice at the Bridgeport Public Library. Frankies Diner and Domus Kids Inc., who donated toward our efforts. Kenny Jackson for raising $75 in 5 short minutes after our event, that will go toward our next event. I can go on and on, but Im going to try my best to tag everyone that attended and or donated toward todays MLK Day of Mentoring which was organized by the Bridgeport Coalition for Urban Male Achievement in partnership with the Black Star Project out of Chicago. If I forget to tag you, please forgive me. Its not intentional and you are not purposely overlooked. Be on the lookout for our next event. Please use the tag #MLKMentorDay for all of your social media uploads. Calvin M Jones II,Tyrone K. Dunmore Much Love
