Finally made it to Timber last night before Magic of Christmas. Based on the write-ups and posts Id seen Id been anxious to go there since before it opened. We only had time for drinks and apps. But, it was enough to make me wonder if I was in the wrong place or something. HUGE disappointment. Not one of the four apps we had were anything to write home about. The steak tartare was barely even edible. But, their worst offense was FROZEN DINNER ROLLS! What self-respecting restaurant serves frozen dinner rolls -- especially in a city packed with competition, like Portland!? Completely unacceptable, IMO. Magic, on the other hand was outstanding per usual. This year they featured a fairly unique band named Simply Three. Their amazing performance, plus a stop by the Front Room for some real food on the way back to the car, made me almost forget about how lame Timber was. :) https://youtube/watch?v=QQF0NSLhnzc
