Finally, some free time to make a post and update everyone... life has been beyond crazy lately-seems I never get a chance to just catch my breath and relax BUT I know it is all for the greater good. I made a vow, a silent promise if you will to never take this incredible gift we have been blessed with for granted for even a fraction of a second. I swore I would do all I could to teach Damien to cherish and protect and care for it the way it deserves to be. I want to, NEED TO honor our donor by doing everything in my power to maximize the effect this new kidney has on Damien and his overall well-being. While of course we are relishing in the fact that Damien can now just be a kid and do SO many things he never could before I also feel it is important to push the envelope and work all the harder with his speech, PT, schooling, etc. while his health is so good. Transplant has given Damien a whole new lease on life; he has more energy, his muscles seem stronger, and he is showing small amounts of interest in food SO-we are hard at work trying to get him to walk, eat, etc. Unfortunately, this hasnt left me with much of that crazy thing people refer to as free time :( This page has been such a huge blessing to me and damien and shoot, our entire family and I really miss the day to day interactions. I miss the chatting with folks, educating everyone about organ failure, making new friends, etc but truth is, Ive had to take a step back and focus on the boys care. Hopefully after the holidays things will be a bit more normal and regular posts will resume. In the meantime, please know how incredibly grateful we are to each and every one of you. We are so blessed by all the wonderful support, encouragement and love we have been shown by folks from this page (and beyond). We love you all so much and wish each and every one of you an amazing holiday season filled with health and happiness. Blessings to you all :)
