Finally watched the Matthew McConaughey acceptance speech. Really liked it. When he effusively praised God, there was an awkward silence, almost as if the crowd was like, Do you know where you are? Really, did you ever hear, say, Cate Blanchett or Kate Winslet praise the Lord? Can you even imagine George Clooney or Ben Affleck saying, First and foremost, I want to thank God for all my blessings? It really did seem out of place at the Oscars, and thats a sad thing. Sadder yet is all the negative feedback Ive seen on the internet. People actually complaining that he thanked God, or that he didnt mention AIDS, the disease that won him that award, as one angry poster wrote, or that he made it all about himself - which he clearly didnt. Oh, well. Haters gonna hate, I guess. But congratulations to you, Mr. McConaughey, for a speech well done.
